新聞己經(jīng)成為人們生活中不可缺少的一部分。每天，人們都能夠從 報紙、雜志、廣播、電視以及新興媒介互聯(lián)網(wǎng)中獲得各種各樣的新聞。 其中報紙是歷史最為悠久的一種媒介，還是新聞報道的始祖。 報紙的雛形始見于 16世紀中葉的威尼斯，叫做 Gazetta，而第一份 英文報紙則于 1702年 3月 11日出版，取名為 Daily Courant。英文報紙 由此開始不斷向前發(fā)展。但它的發(fā)展總是受到政府的嚴厲控制，北美殖 民地的報紙出版也不例外。在北美的整個發(fā)展史中，報紙均扮演了重要 的角色，它也由此獲得了相應(yīng)的發(fā)展，比如在國內(nèi)戰(zhàn)爭時期，倒金字塔 式的報道結(jié)構(gòu)逐漸形成，并被報界人士奉為金科玉律從而見諸于各家報 端。隨著廣播電視等新興媒體的出現(xiàn)，報紙與其竟爭日益激烈，并形成 了今天群雄并立的局面。 對于新聞的定義，各家并無統(tǒng)一說法，但在確定新聞價值的6個要 素方面，各家并無多大分歧，而且新聞的組成部分也大體相同，分別是 標題、導(dǎo)語及正文。新聞標題是整個新聞報道中最引人注目的部分，它 的形式、用詞、時態(tài)、語態(tài)、標點符號及修辭手法的運用都有其自成一 家的特點。而導(dǎo)語從倒金字塔式發(fā)展至今也己經(jīng)有了11種不同的形式。 匯文的采寫共有3種形式，可以滿足不同報道內(nèi)容的需要。此外，英語 新聞報道在長期發(fā)展過程中，形成了別具一格的用詞及文體特點，這也 影響了中英文新聞的互譯。作者認為，中英文新聞的互譯應(yīng)該以信、達、 切、可讀性為標準，并注意一些相關(guān)問題。無論報紙經(jīng)歷了怎樣的發(fā)展 過程，現(xiàn)在存在著怎樣的問題，它的未來都充滿了希望。
