'Nationalizing’can’t justify Japan's illegal takeover of islands

       3gzylon 2012-09-11

Currently, the performance of "buying the Diaoyu Islands" launched by Shintaro Ishihara, taken over by the Japanese government, has turned into a farce of "nationalizing the Diaoyu Islands." However, as President Hu Jintao said to the Japanese Premier Yoshihiko Noda during the conference of the Asian-Pacific Economic Cooperation, these actions are illegal and invalid and will never be accepted by the government and people of China.

Japan says that its cabinet judged in 1895 that the Diaoyu Islands had no sign of being governed by the Qing Empire and therefore the cabinet "merged" it into Okinawa County. But the fact is that the book "wish you a good journey" published during the Yongle Emperor period of the Ming Dynasty already recorded the name and position of the Diaoyu Islands.

Japan says that the Diaoyu Islands were handed over to Japan by the United States in 1971 as a part of the Okinawa. But the fact is that Japan's action of usurping the Diaoyu Island was completed under the overall condition that Japan launched the Sino-Japanese war of 1894-1895 against the Qing Empire, forced the Qing government signed the unequal "Treaty of Shimonoseki" and invaded and occupied the Taiwan Province of China. Therefore, Japan's unjust occupation of the Diaoyu Islands was an outcome of the invasion.

The "Cairo Declaration" and "Potsdam Declaration," which were foundations of principles for treating the invader countries after the Second World War, clearly proscribed that Japan must return the Chinese territories it usurped illegally to China. After the Second World War, Japan's territorial sovereignty was limited to the Honshu, Hokkaido, Kyushu, Shikoku and other small Japanese islands and did not include the Diaoyu Islands at all. Japan accepted these decisions unconditionally and returned the Taiwan Islands to China. The Diaoyu Islands, as a part of the Taiwan Islands, have been returned to China legally.

Japan denied that there was a mutual understanding between China and Japan on the Diaoyu Islands dispute. The fact is that Premier Zhou Enlai had said to the former Japanese Prime Minister Tanaka Kakuei that they did not mention about the Diaoyu Islands issue during negotiations of the diplomatic normalization of China-Japan relations in 1972 and when signing the China-Japan Peace and Friendship Treaty in 1978, to which Kakuei also agreed.
