What Does Employers Look for in Potential 

Knowing what an employer is looking for in a potential employee can help us to prepare for an interview. An interviewer may have such questions in his mind: What specific skills am I looking for in the people who apply for a job? And how do I identify these skills?

了解雇主在尋找潛在職員的時(shí)候看的時(shí)候可以幫助我們準(zhǔn)備面試。面試官會(huì)在他的腦海里可能會(huì)有這樣的問(wèn)題：在求職者中我尋找的是擁有什么樣技能的人？我如何確定這些技能？

First, most important for him in the way of skills is the ability to communicate --- can people speak clearly? Can they express the kind of person they believe themselves to be? In what kind of situation do they perform well? What are their strengths and weaknesses? So what he’s looking for is an ability to verbalize an idea in clear, simple, understandable language.

首先，對(duì)他來(lái)說(shuō)最重要的技能是溝通能力---人們是否能夠表達(dá)得清清楚楚？他們能不能表達(dá)自己是屬于哪一類人？在哪種情況下，他們表現(xiàn)得出色？他們的優(yōu)點(diǎn)和弱點(diǎn)是什么？所以他所尋找的是一種能用清楚，簡(jiǎn)單，易懂的語(yǔ)言表達(dá)思想的能力。

Second, he is looking for creativity. He will ask some “odd” questions. How do they respond in these tough situations --- can they be creative with their answers? This is very important when they are out in business situations with customers. They will have to respond to very sudden changes and problem-solving situation that they are not familiar with, and the interviewer wants to know if they can handle them.

第二，他們?cè)趯ふ业氖莿?chuàng)新。他會(huì)問(wèn)一些“奇怪的”問(wèn)題。在這樣艱難的情況下他們會(huì)如何反應(yīng)，他們的答案是否有創(chuàng)新性？這是很重要的在他們并未身處商業(yè)中時(shí)。他們將不得不對(duì)這突發(fā)的變化作出回應(yīng)并解決他們不熟悉的問(wèn)題，而面試官則想知道他們是否能夠處理。

Third, what he looks for the most are personal qualities --- assertiveness, drive, ambition and a competitive instinct. They should be high achievers and want to work hard. How they present their experiences? For example, an assertive person will say, “I can do these things” and “I decided in this course of action,” whereas a more passive person might say, “These are the experiences I have had.” All of these things describe the person in some way.

第三，他最想要尋找的是個(gè)人素質(zhì)：自信，進(jìn)取，抱負(fù)和競(jìng)爭(zhēng)的本能。他們應(yīng)該有大成就，而且想努力工作。他們?nèi)绾沃v述自己的經(jīng)歷。例如，一個(gè)自信的人會(huì)說(shuō)，“我能做這些事”和“我決定采取這一行動(dòng)方針，“而被動(dòng)的人則會(huì)說(shuō)，“這就是我做過(guò)的經(jīng)歷。”所有的這些事情都在某種程度上描述了一個(gè)人。
