A 12-year-old girl who had an inkling (略知) she might be quite clever has sat a test (參加考試) and proved she was absolutely (絕對地) right.

Lydia Sebastian achieved (實現(xiàn); 取得) the top score (得分) of 162 on Mensa's Cattell III B paper (智商測試題), suggesting she has a higher IQ than well-known (著名的) geniuses (天才) Albert Einstein (阿爾伯特·愛因斯坦) and Stephen Hawking (史蒂芬·霍金).

The comparison (比較) doesn't sit well with the British student, who's currently (現(xiàn)在，現(xiàn)時，目前，當(dāng)前) in Year 8 at Colchester County high school (中學(xué)), a selective (選擇性的) girl's grammar school (小學(xué)(=elementary school) [美國英語]) in Essex, England.

'I don't think I can be compared to such great intellectuals (知識分子) such as Albert Einstein and Stephen Hawking. They've achieved so much. I don't think it's right,' Lydia told CNN.

Lydia sat the test in her summer holidays (暑假), after raising the idea with her parents and pestering (糾纏) them for the best part of a year.

It turns out (結(jié)果為) the test wasn't that hard after all.

'I was really nervous (緊張的) before the test and I thought it was going to be really hard. But as I started the test, I thought it was a bit easier than I thought it was going to be,' she said.

Lydia's not quite sure what she wants to do when she leaves school, although she's leaning toward something 'based around maths, because it's one of my favorite subjects (最喜歡的科目).'

'All I'm going to do is work as hard as I can, and see where that gets me,' she said.

To put Lydia's mark in perspective (正確看待她的分?jǐn)?shù)), the top adult score in the Cattell III B test, which primarily (主要地) tests verbal reasoning (語文/文字推理), is 161. A top 2% score -- which allows entry to Mensa (門薩國際; 入會標(biāo)準(zhǔn)僅限于智商超過98%人口), the club for those with high IQs -- would be 148 or over. Lydia scored 162, placing her in the top 1% of the population (人口).

讀后感：

智商148是門薩國際的入門要求，已經(jīng)是一般人無法企及的了。而她，僅僅12歲，智商高達162，比愛因斯坦和霍金智商還高，活脫脫就是一個天才??！
