一、look作為動詞，用法如下:

1. 用作不及物動詞,意為“看,望,瞧”。

1)單獨使用時,后不跟介詞。如:

I looked but saw nothing.我看了,但什么也沒看見。

Look! Here comes the bus. 瞧!汽車來了。

Look before you leap. 三思而后行。

2)和at連用。如:

The teacher is looking seriously at us.老師正嚴肅地看著我們。

Look at these pictures. How beautiful they are!看這些畫,它們是多么漂亮啊!

3)和其它某些介詞或副詞連用:

(1) look after 照看,照料。如:He is old enough to look after himself.他年齡足夠大,能照看自己。

(2) look for 尋找。如:I looked for you just now, but I didn’t find you.剛才我到處找你,但沒有找到。

(3) look around 四下環(huán)顧;到處尋找。如:He looked around but he saw nobody.他四下環(huán)顧,但什么人也沒看到。

(4) look back on回想,回顧。如:They often look back on the days they spent together. 他們?；仡櫵麄冊谝黄鸲冗^的日子。

(5) look down on看不起。如:Don’t look down on others.不要看不起別人。

(6) look forward to 盼望。如:We are looking forward to seeing you again.我們盼望再見到你。

(7) look into朝……里面看。如:He looked into the box, but he saw nothing.他朝箱子里面看了看,但沒看到什么。

(8) look on...as把某人看作。如:We look on him as our friends.我們把他看作我們的朋友。

(9) look out當心。如:Look out! Don’t hit the tree. 當心!不要撞了樹。

(10) look over仔細檢查;翻閱。如:The doctor is looking him over. 醫(yī)生正在給他做仔細檢查。

(11) look through瀏覽;仔細檢查;看穿。如:I have looked it through.我已把它仔細地看了一遍。

(12) look up抬頭看;查;找出。如:He looked up and smiled at me.他抬起頭,對我笑了笑。If there are words you don’t understand, look them up in the dictionary. 如果你有不認識的單詞可以查詞典。

2. 用作連系動詞,意為“看起來”。

1)后跟形容詞。如:You look well/fine/healthy.你看起來很健康。The teacher looks happy. 老師看上去很高興。She looks pale. 她面色蒼白。

2)后跟過去分詞。如:You look tired; you’d better have a rest.你看上去很累,你最好休息一下。

3)后跟名詞。如:He looks a nice, honest man.他看上去是個誠實的好人。

4) 后跟介詞短語等。如:He looks in good health. 他看來十分健康。

3. 用作及物動詞,意為“看,瞧,打量”等。如:He is looking me up and down.他上下打量著我。

二、look作為名詞，用法如下：

1. 看;瞥

Kris took another look at herself in the glass.

克蕾絲又對著鏡子照了照自己。

2. 臉色;眼神;表情

The boss had a happy look on his face.

老板臉上掛著高興的神色。

3. 外表,樣子

He has the look of a winner.

他有一付勝利者的樣子。

4. 面容;美貌

She has lost her good looks.
她已失去了她的美貌
