Located in the southwest of Shanghai, Xuhui District is centered on Xujiahui, where the district takes its name. Xuhui District, together with neighboring Luwan District (now Huangpu), made up the area known as Shanghai’s former French Concession. Vestiges of French influence can still be seen here, in the St. Ignatius Cathedral, Xujiahui Observatory as well as some of the remaining boulevards and French-style architectural touches throughout. Xujiahui has been redeveloped as a commercial center and is now home to many large-scale shopping centers and department stores. Shoppers love Xuhui for its sheer variety of retail meccas like Grand Gateway Shanghai and Pacific Sogo, while art lovers can do no better than the district’s many world-class museums that line the West Bund. See Xuhui from a whole new perspective with this bird’s eye video. Editor: Zoey |
