The tradition of the Dragon Boat Festival started more than 2,000 years ago. It usually falls on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month, which is usually in June in the Gregorian calendar. The festival is celebrated to commemorate the death of the famous Chinese poet Qu Yuan, who lived during the Warring States period. Especially ,the tradition of eating Zongzi is meant to remind us of this patriotic poet. Because after Qu Yuan drowned himself in the river and it is believed that throwing zongzi into the river could prevent fish from eating his body.
