Hey, my name is Katy, and I’m a recruiter at Indeed.

Many companies, including Indeed, use phone calls to make sure that candidates who look good on paper are ready to move forward into a more in-depth interview.

This is sometimes called a phone screen.

有時(shí)，這也被稱之為：電話約談。

During this call, you’ll typically speak with a recruiter like me, rather than the hiring manager. If all goes well, the recruiter will move you onto the next step.

在此對(duì)話期間，你一般會(huì)與像我這樣的招聘人員進(jìn)行溝通，而不是招聘經(jīng)理。如果順利的話，招聘人員會(huì)將面試程序往下走。

This conversation usually only lasts about 30 minutes.

So consider it, your chance to sum up what you like best about the opportunity and the skills you bring to the table.

Before the interview, review the job description and make note of terms and skills you want to reference in your answers.

Research the company in-depth and think of a few questions to ask the recruiter. That will help you evaluate whether this is the right fit for you.

Be prepared to answer questions like:

Find a quiet place with good reception to take the phone call. You should clear away as many distractions as possible, and choose somewhere you won’t be interrupted.

One benefit of being on the phone is that you can take a moment to collect your thoughts.
